Determine the Learning ObjectivesWhat do your students need to know about your topic? In answering this question, you’ll discover the important teaching points for your LO. For even the simplest LOs, it’s a good idea to think about the teaching points. Establishing teaching points and/or learning objectives will keep your work focused on the needs of the students and prevent scope creep during the creation process. Scope creep is when content or features get added to a project without concern for the resources required to manage the additions. Avoid scope creep Unless your learning object is going to be a simple graphic or image, it’s also a good idea to write learning objectives that are specific and measurable. Good objectives become increasingly more important as the complexity of the learning object rises. A good reference to help you write specific and measurable learning objectives is Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognitive Domain. |
